Ntawnis Piapot is a multi award-winning Indigenous journalist born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Regina, a Diploma in Indigenous Communication Arts and a Certificate in Intercultural Leadership from the First Nations University of Canada. She is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Regina’s School of Journalism. Ntawnis has worked as a National Correspondent for the Globe and Mail, a reporter for CBC Saskatchewan, CBC Indigenous, CTV Regina, APTN National News, VICE News, Macleans Magazine, Corporate Knights Magazine, J-Source, Journalists For Human Rights, and Eagle Feather News.

Ntawnis is passionate about pursuing stories that affect Indigenous people across Canada. She is a proud Nehiyaw Iskwew from the Piapot Cree Nation in Treaty 4 Territory. She is a direct descendant of Treaty 4 signatory, Chief Piapot. Ntawnis has been honoured with prestigious awards for her tireless work in journalism, justice and storytelling, including: a RTDNA Award, a YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, a CJF-CBC Indigenous Fellowship Award, and a Federation of Indigenous Sovereign Nations’ ‘Strength of Our Women’ Award in the Law and Justice categor for her extensive covereage of MMIWG2S stories.
